• “I’d rather sign a contract with a record company than to sign up with a nursing home!”

Ruth Flowers, a 69-year-old England native has suddenly burst onto the French electro-pop party scene. No, this isn’t a joke. After showing up late to a birthday party for her grandson, she was told by a bouncer that she “wouldn’t want to go in there” since the kids were having a dance party. “Well, I think I rather do,” she replied.

I went in and it was very noisy and the lights were flashing, but there was an awful lot of energy and joy.

Flowers didn’t know anything about electro-pop before the party, but she walked out wanting to know more. Although it started as a joke, four years of training with Aurelien Simon opened up a new door. Flowers started creating her own sound, and now she even has her own website, complete with a track she has been working on titled, “Mamy Rock.”

I stumbled across a video about Ruth Flowers while using Tumblr.com, but I quickly went in search of more information. Here’s a link to an article about her.
